Quechua Benefit team members were captivated by the children of Mosoq Runa orphanage (Quechua for "new person"), in Macusani. It is run by the Catholic Sisters of the Cross.
The girls at the orphanage sing a song, which includes a verse that goes something like this, "We do not want to be a burden, we would rather drink a poison, leave this earth and join our family, than be a burden."
Each year Quechua Benefit provides clothes, blankets and shoes to the girls of Mosoq Runa. A portion of your donations will help Mosoq Runa increase its daily meal service to the poorest local children living outside the orphanage. To many this is their only hot meal of the day.
Sisters of the Cross are women from many nations who live in a community, take vows of poverty, chastity and obedience, and are committed to Gospel values and global mission. Their focus is women's empowerment, community building and action for justice and peace.
