Quechua Benefit will begin construction of Casa Chapi in March of 2009. Bricks will be laid, timbers raised and soon a home will appear. The complex, when complete, will be 38,150 square feet. The management team has identified four hundred potential residents and will interview them to determine who is most needy. The future of these boys and girls will not be confined inside the walls of the new orphanage. The future of these children will lie in their optimism for life that is created by the nurturing and love they receive.
Quechua Benefit has learned over the years, that the most precious commodity among the poorest alpaca breeders, their children and families is hope. Hope for a hot meal, a safe place to grow, an education and a future beyond childhood. No one knows how many skilled carpenters, mechanics, college professors or small business owners there are among Peru’s poorest children. Quechua Benefit intends to find out.
Casa Chapi will search for the dentists, computer whizz's, mechanics, carpenters, and veterinarians among the children who come to call the orphanage home. Hope will thrive, led by 3 hot meals a day, nurtured by self esteem and realized through the pride found in accomplishment.
