Mike and Julie Safley began traveling to Peru in 1991. They were taken by the country and its people. The opportunity to serve the very people who provided them with their alpacas presented itself with the creation of Quechua Benefit. The organization has grown in ways that could not be envisioned on that first Quechua Benefit trip to Macusani in 1996, but every new step that the organization has taken since delivers a new opportunity to give thanks for the gift of the alpaca from the Quechua people.
