“I Learn at Home” Program for Casa Chapi Kids

We have good news! Our Casa Chapi kids are continuing to learn. The Peru Ministry of Education has begun a new educational program called “Aprendo en Casa” (I Learn at Home), and they have distributed iPads for virtual learning to students throughout Peru.

Casa Chapi teachers are being trained to conduct virtual classes, and by the end of April at least 80% of our students will be connected to distance learning! Teachers will teach their classes via TV and radio, and then follow up with their students by cellphone and WhatsApp. Our Peru Director, Alejandro, and Casa Chapi’s principal, Guini, are keeping in close contact with all our families.

Coronavirus is having a major impact in Peru’s daily life and economics. Restricted shop hours and closures exist throughout the country, and the government has extended the quarantine until at least May 10. You can read the most current information here

Our extended Casa Chapi family is made up of almost 600 people who are poor in the best of times. Because of coronavirus restrictions, they are struggling to get basic supplies right now. You can come alongside them to provide food boxes to sustain them with rice, beans, and canned goods. Our work among the most vulnerable in the remotest parts of Peru will continue. Your generosity is changing their lives, and they are grateful for your love and support.
